What We Offer

Active Release Techniques

ART is a patented soft tissue system/movement based massage technique dealing with fibrotic tissue adhesions that cause pain and restricts normal motion between soft tissue structures.  When tissue (often muscle) is misused, overused or injured, adhesions (fibrous bands) and scar tissue can develop between and within muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements.

These treatment protocols - over 500 specific moves - are unique to ART. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie-cutter approach.

Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, pinched nerves and tennis/golfers elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved with ART.  These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.  Muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues develop adhesions within, around and/or between them after acute or repetitive motion injuries.  Adhesions cause altered function of muscles and joints resulting in a wide variety of symptoms that characterize the cumulative injury cycle.  The cumulative injury cycle can be started in three ways: acute injury, repetitive motion injury, and/or constant pressure or tension injury.  Left uncorrected the injuries can lead to chronic inflammation, adhesion/fibrosis, weak and tense tissues, and decreased circulation to the tissues involved.

Chiropractic is a profession which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions which are due to mechanical dysfunction of the joints and their effects on the nervous system. Chiropractors use their hands to adjust the joints of your spine and extremities where signs of restriction in movement are found, improving mobility and relieving pain. This treatment is known as 'adjustment' or 'manipulation'. Poor, inadequate or incorrect function in the spine can cause irritation of the nerves that control our posture and movement. This spinal nerve stress (which may be caused by factors such as accident, poor diet, lack of exercise, poor posture and anxiety) can lead to the symptoms of discomfort, pain and even disease which are a warning that your body is not functioning properly. Depending on where the nerve irritation has occurred in your spine, your symptoms may include the following: headache/migraine, neck/back pain, chest pain, shoulder/arm/wrist/hand problems, leg/knee/ankle/foot problems.
