If you’re reading this, you’re either looking for ways to make money online or looking for ways to boost your income. If you’re like most people, you’ve been scouring the internet, gathering information from experts and have probably already been promised a big monthly income using somebody’s magic ‘turnkey’ system.

You probably also have become very skeptical about these schemes. If you’ve tried any, you will have learned that many of them have two things in common: Search Engine Optimization and traffic generation. Read between the lines and you’ll learn that they want you to direct that traffic to them, not you!

They’re not lying: the way to make money on the internet is to employ link-building and traffic generating techniques. If you’ve got to do that anyway, why should you do it for somebody else? They’ll just get paid for your efforts and throw you a pittance in return. Why not put those SEO techniques you’ve learned to work for you instead of somebody else?

‘But I’m just a used car salesman, ‘ you say. Isn’t that a marketable skill? You don’t need a PhD in IT to be an expert. IT junkies couldn’t sell a car to save their life. Whatever you do to make a living or whatever hobbies you may have, they can be turned into an online business.

Let’s say your name is John and you’re a TV repairman. You’ve been doing it so long that it’s boring to you now and your salary is only enough to get by on. Your job may be boring to you, but did you know that what you know about televisions would be fascinating to millions of people, most of whom don’t know the first thing about TV technology. They’ve heard terminology like ‘LED backlight, ‘ but don’t even know what LED stands for, much less how it works.

You on the other hand, know that it stands for Light Emitting Diode. You also know what that means and why it’s important. Your expertise could be the beginning of your online career if you go about it the right way. Start with a free blog and work your way up from there.

Sit down and write your first article. Get right into it and make a show of your technical knowledge. Then distribute the article to article directories, etc. The following week, write another article about something else, say a graphic LCD. Many of your readers won’t even know what LCD stands for, so start with the bare bones basics.

You’ll have to work at it, but after awhile you will see yourself attracting a following. They will turn to you for advice about televisions and you can make money selling TV’s online as an affiliate or writing technical articles for others. Then take it from there. Who knows, you could become very successful!
