The Home Business Marketing Battle You Want To Win

Your Home Business Marketing battle will include a number of different methods in different areas of the Internet. You may have a web site, use an auto responder, post classified ads, post articles, place banner advertisements, sponsor lists and newsletters, distribute press releases, and much more.

Keep in mind, though, that when you are first starting out, it is critical that you focus on one aspect of your marketing campaign at a time and promote it to its fullest extent before moving on to the next.

It is better to slowly become profitable by focusing on one issue at a time, than to barely be profitable because you are attacking all of the issues half-heartedly.

Diversify and spend small amounts on advertising at first. If you use a cautious approach, you will not be wiped out financially if an ad doesn’t generate the sales you were hoping for.  Just keep testing ads as your budget allows until you find the one that works best; then you can roll it out and be confident that you are going to make money rather than lose it!

If you have a lot of competition, state that you will honor all of your competitors’ coupons and/or discounts; use “their” advertising to your advantage.

An age-old problem in business is collecting final payment for services rendered.  As a business owner, you need to be prepared for “difficult” clients and “mooches” by doing such things as…

1. In your contract or sales agreements, state the interest rates and late fees that will be assessed if payment is not received within 30 days of completion.

2. Write form letters to be used for collecting the balance. There should be three letters in total — one after the payment is ten days late, another after twenty days, and a third that lets the client know that you’ll be turning their account over to a collection agency (or taking them to small claims court). The third letter should not be sent until 45 days after the payment is late.   And of course, never bluff.  If you say you will turn it over to a collection agency, do so.

3. The best way to protect yourself is to take payment via credit card.  State to your client that you will bill their credit card one third of the total price as an initial down payment, another third just after you have passed the 50% completion point, and the final third on delivery. Or use the two-payment system — half at the initiation of the job and the remainder upon completion.

Home Business Marketing Success Requires Focus

Home Business Marketing success requires that you remain focus.So, if you’re trying to become successful by promoting more than one program, you’re working against yourself.

Why? Because you only have a certain amount of time, energy,and money that you can commit to promoting any program or business. These are your “advertising resources”, and they’re limited.

That means if you’re splitting your advertising resources by advertising two different programs, the results for each of those programs will be reduced by half.

That would be like opening a restaurant… but closing for two weeks every month. What would your chances be for success if you did that? About zero.

And it gets worse if you’re advertising more programs!
If you’re advertising three programs,  each program will have only 33%  of your  advertising  resource  … and lose the other 67%. That’s a 67% reduction in new customers, sign-ups, affiliates, or whatever you’re trying to achieve in that program.

That’s like having your restaurant open just ten days a month!
It’s hard to imagine, but I’ve seen some people trying to build  four or five or even six different programs at once! They were desperately trying everything they could think of… but nothing was working. They were falling farther and farther behind in monthly fees for all those programs… and they were all failing.

But wait a minute! All the experts and gurus say that you need “multiple streams of income” to be successful! They say that you shouldn’t count on just one program or just one business in case it goes under. Isn’t that good advice?

Let’s put it this way… if you were the owner of a program, and  you knew that 99% of the people who see your website have already paid to join at least one other program, what would your advice to those people be?

Would you tell them that their best chance for success is to  focus on the program they’ve already joined? Probably not.

You’d probably tell them that they need to join your program too… so they’ll have a “safety net” in case the other program should fail. And even if it doesn’t fail, if they join your program also, they’ll have that wonderful phenomenon called “multiple streams of income“.

So is it any wonder that all the experts and gurus (who own the programs) are so enthusiastic in their endorsement of the “multiple streams of income” approach? Not really.

But what they don’t tell you is that by trying to advertise both programs, you’re causing your own failure in both programs.

They don’t tell you that because it’s not important… to them.
What’s important is that you click that “Join Now!” button and send in your money. That’s what they’re interested in!

So forget about trying to advertise more than one program and remember this… success requires focus.

If you don’t believe me, just ask any successful person you  can find whether you should concentrate all your efforts on building one business… or scatter your efforts among
a bunch of different programs.

I think we both already know the answer to that one!

Paid Autoresponders–The #1 Must Have Home Business Tool

Without any shadow of a doubt, every successful online businesses will be using  autoresponders to drive a substantial part of their business or businesses. In fact, autoresponders are nothing less than the key to automating your whole business operation.

In very simple terms, what an autoresponder does is allow you to build a complete customer contact and sales system, which, once in place, can be used time after time after time!

From any research that you many already have done, you should be aware that many industry experts suggest that, on average, you will have to contact a potential customer at least seven times before they become a real, paying customer. An autoresponder allows you to do this both quickly and simply. You may have also heard or read the online business ‘cliché’ that ‘the money is in the list’.

If at all possible, you should go for the paid version right from the outset, for several
reasons. Assuming that you are planning on being in this for the long haul, then your list will, over time, become your most valuable business asset, bar none.You should therefore take your list and the idea of building it ultra-seriously right from the beginning.

The problem is that free accounts only have one advantage, that is that they cost nothing. They do have several disadvantages on the other hand.

First, most free responders carry advertising from the autoresponder company themselves, and (even more damaging to your business) sometimes from third party companies too. Do you want your outgoing mails to advertise other people’s businesses, as well as(or sometimes instead of) your own?

This is not great for your long term business growth.
Secondly, many free autoresponders will only allow you to have one mailing list attached to your free account, meaning that you must add everyone to the same list.

Now, maybe at first this will not be a big problem, but it can very quickly become one.
For example, say in a few months time, your business is successful, so you decide to branch out into selling two completely different product lines.You cannot logically mix these two ‘lines’ into one mailing list, so what can you do?

You really need to build two completely separate lists but with a free autoresponder, you would not be able to do this.

The final and most damaging disadvantage of using a free service to start with is that, at some point, if you are successful, you will need to switch to a paid service.

That is not a question of ‘if’ only of ‘when’.
And, when you do this, you have to go back and ask every member of your mailing list to sign up with you again, and guess what? Statistically, over 50% of your list members will just not bother!

In other words, you will lose over 50% of the assets of your business overnight, simply because you decided to save a little bit of money now!

So, if you can, I would strongly urge that you try to find the necessary fees to get a paid autoresponder service from the outset, as it probably the best investment that you can make in your business.

If you have no choice but to start out using a free service, then that cannot be helped and the best account that I know of can be found here. But, as I suggested, be aware that this will give you only one free mail list builder.

Free Advertising Tips For Home Business Marketers

When I first started out marketing from home I had to get creative when I realized I didn’t have a budget of ANY kind for advertising my home business .

I’m glad it happen that way because I  did find these free advertising techniques that are the  best in terms of getting free traffic to sites and I use them FAR more than any sort of paid advertising.

The main ways I get free advertising for my sites are:
1. Viral marketing – writing and distributing FREE reports and ebooks that also come with resell rights .I put links back to my sites in the ebooks. I want go into great detail

2. Article marketing – the most effective way to make sure your articles get used by as many people as possible is to make them interesting. The best way to do that is to visit similar sites and see which articles turn YOU on. If they interest you, they’ll interest
others so write a similar article. If they bore you, they’ll bore others so stay away.

3. Forum Posting. Don’t underestimate this method. If I have a launch on my blog or a viral report I want to give away, then I’ll get stuck into the forums for a few hours. I change my signature file and every time I have a new launch I post on the forums. Don’t forget when you change your sig, on most forums it automatically changes on every post you’ve ever written, so all your past posts’ sigs will also point to your latest post.

4. Blog posting – post on other people’s blogs – especially HUGE guru’s blogs and make sure you leave a link back to your products. 5. Write a newsletter or Ezine and get opt-ins in exchange for it. Include links in each ezine you send out. The easiest way is to send out a simple email newsletter. Make sure you write quality content – people aren’t stupid, so don’t treat them as though they are – would you want an inbox full of useless ezines? I know you already have! – so if you write a GOOD ezine you’ll stand out from the crowd and get more traffic

6. Swapping links with other site owners. Most site owners will be fine with this. But choose people on your own level. If you approach a guru he usually won’t even reply to you because there’s not much in it for him. If you go for someone at the same level you’re at – newbie – intermediate – whatever, you’ve far more chance of him being more than happy to help. AND there’s a strong possibility you’ll make a friend that may become  A JV partner one day.

The main thing is to just pick a couple of the above – the ones that appeal to you are the best ones to start with – and get stuck in. You’ll quickly find out which ones you like and which ones you don’t.

The good news is that they all work extremely well, so as your business grows you can pay outsource workers to do the ones you don’t like. As you build more sites (and if you get into Internet Marketing you can be sure you will), one of the best ways of driving traffic is the simplest of all.

Put a link on your sites, that tells your readers about your OTHER sites. Sounds obvious?
You’d be surprised how many marketers forget to do this.
